Burnaby Mountain Mamas are Pat Howard, Janie Benna and Rena Pinteric. Our name was coined by Anita Bates who was part of our group before she moved away about 10 yrs. ago. The Burnaby Mountain Mamas are proud to have been part of the struggle to save Burnaby Mountain. We have a strong conviction that we can help recraft society into a gift economy by singing — to return what we have received and to support others.
James Houlahan is a folk singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA. He tours up and down the West Coast and released his sixth album Beyond the Borders in 2022. His influences include Neil Young, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

Melanie Goestl — With her powerful voice and take-no-prisoners lyrics, Melanie’s songs will break your heart and then mend it. Welcome back, Melanie!

Jim Edmondson — Jim is excited to be part of the VFSS’s Folk Revival and says as long as there’s camaraderie, playfulness and serious harmonizing he’s stickin’ around.
Gwenda Ellwood — Piano lessons as a kid, folk song coffee houses in Sydney, Australia, in the 60’s, hippie music and experimental music in 70’s, spirituals, blues, jazz, and popular music as life went on. I’ve always loved listening to and performing music in intimate surroundings.
I joined VFSS in 2018 when I retired. What a haven to find others who love to raise their voices in harmony and connect with each other to make home-grown music.
Barry Truter — Come celebrate the release of Barry’s new album—Traveller 2. A dedicated traveller, Barry makes music from multiple traditions. Whether leading a resonant chorus, cooking up a Delta blues or exploring polyphonic harmony, Barry always plays in the key of connection.
Amorphous Folk Collective — is a gathering of folks with a fluid structure who are interested in keeping the tradition of social singing alive. Not a choir, not band, but something else entirely… This group earned rave reviews at last year’s Princeton gathering; come catch the buzz!
