Here are the folks lined up to perform featured sets at our upcoming in-person and online events in November:
November 6th at the Quaker Meeting House
Steve Deering — Thanks to his discovery of the VFSS in 2016, Steve has taken to belting out songs in the company of others, mostly Scottish folk songs and (often silly) songs of the sea. On this occasion, he will take us to the graveside.
Victoria Gibson, aka “Little Mamma,” loves to sing and play music of many styles on electric guitar. She has written songs since she can remember and that is a long time now. For this event she would like everyone to sing along because her Song for International Womens Day needs your voice.

Melanie Goestl —With her powerful voice and take-no-prisoners lyrics, Melanie’s songs will break your heart and then mend it. On. Nov. 6, Melanie is accompanied by Vancouver favourite Hagen Mitchell.
Between the Realms is an eclectic band playing rock, blues, folk, pop, country and more. Haisla Collins (lead singer and harmonica), Christina Laude (keys and vocals), and Neal Miskin (drums and vocals) have been playing together since 2021.
November 20th at the Quaker Meeting House & live-streamed to Zoom
Hugh Barr — Born and raised in Ireland’s County Down, Hugh also has strong roots in Scotland. His music draws upon both of these deep and generous traditions. Hugh has been a longtime member of the VFSS, first joining in 1970.
The Honeyflowers are the original duo of Betty Berda and Shelley Stevens. Years ago at a music gathering, they found a common interest in both their musical tastes and songwriting. Every time they performed together at open mics or house parties and people heard their heavenly harmonies and original tunes, they were asked what band they were in and where they were playing next. As a result, The Honeyflowers were born. Influences include Gillian Welch, Kasey Chamber, Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris. For more, check out https://www.reverbnation.com/thehoneyflowers
Michael Burnyeat is a fiddler and multi-instrumentalist, known for playing traditional fiddle tunes in a variety of genres. He is also in-demand as a session musician, instructor, and recording artist. Welcome back, Michael!

Brian Robertson is best known for his authentic, well-crafted songs about the region and its history, as well as some with more universal themes of love, travel, social justice and the blues.
