Here are the folks lined up to perform featured sets at our upcoming events in April:
April 2nd at the Quaker Meeting House
Bevan Bartlett grew up singing traditional music. He has a penchant for ballads, airs, and laments (though he has been known to belt a shanty or three), and sings accompanied by guitar or reed drones, or a cappella.
Jenny and Georgina — Both longtime music-makers, Jenny and Georgina are teaming up to explore new territory. Jenny Arntzen is a songwriter and musician who leans into the transformative experience of words and music to help us pull together through difficult times. Georgina Arntzen has been playing in folk and bluegrass circles since her university days in Saskatchewan.
Lazy Jacks Shanty Crew — The Lazy Jacks are anything but lethargic, with raucous choruses, lively tunes, and saucy banter. They make it easy for audiences to join in, whether on old favorites or new offerings.

April 16th at the Quaker Meeting House & streamed live to Zoom
Hugh Barr — Born and raised in Ireland’s County Down, Hugh also has strong roots in Scotland. His music draws upon both of these deep and generous traditions. Hugh has been a longtime member of the VFSS, first joining in 1970.
Lucien started his musical journey at age 18. His musical discipline soon grew into a passion as he was inspired by various folk artists. He can often be heard at the VFSS, where he delights the audience with his good humour and strong musicianship. Lucien is continuing to grow his skills and meet other musicians through busking, gigs and open mic’s.
Jane Slemon & Kitty King — Jane Slemon is a sensitive singer, songwriter and flautist, muscular guitar player, and builder of musical community. Jane sings and plays with several musical groups including Erratica and J.E.S., and has recorded two excellent CDs. Kitty King, a bassist, singer and songwriter, is a member of the well-loved Little Mountain Trio. She also has recorded a CD, joyfully titled “Dancing House.”
Graham Baldwin has played guitar since he was a child and melodeon for over 30 years. He has played in many bands over the years, and maintains an eclectic repertoire encompassing acoustic & electric blues, traditional & contemporary folk, and what he calls (with affection!) “cheap, pop crap.” He is a founding and current member of the Vancouver Morris Men and the Rattlebone Band, a local folk/ceilidh/ECD band.
