VFSS at the Draw the Line March

On Sept. 20, we marched and sang for people, peace, and planet.

Members of the VFSS teamed up with Left Coast Labour Chorus and Solidarity Notes Labour Choir to “Draw the Line” as part of an international campaign.

On the VPL plaza we were a strong block of 50 or so singers, leading hundreds more in song. Then our magical, musical golf cart led us along the Georgia St. viaduct to Creekside Park, and we sang our hearts out all the way. We sang classics from the Civil Rights movement, like “We Shall Not be Moved,” and contemporary protest songs like “Lead with Love” by Melanie DeMore.

Kudos to everyone who showed up, led songs, walked backwards, played guitar, brought their grandparents, and made a joyful noise. Many thanks to the Vancouver Elementary and Adult Education Society, who printed our songsheets, and to the many folks who pitched in to help.

When we work and sing together, we become a powerful force for peace and justice.
