On March 26 of 2025, the Vancouver Folk Song Society made Jim Edmondson a life member of the society.

Life membership is awarded to people who have given decades of service to the VFSS.

The award certificate reads:

The Vancouver Folk Song Society is honoured to designate Jim Edmondson as a Life Member for his extraordinary contribution to the Society. He has encouraged the study, appreciation and enjoyment of Folk music for many decades and the Society is richer for his participation.

This life membership honours Jim’s musicianship, hard work, and steady presence since he joined the VFSS in the early 1980’s.

Jim has served on the VFSS Board many times over his 40+ years in the society. He has organized dozens of projects, special events, retreats, and excursions for the Folk community over many decades.

On countless protest marches over the years, Jim has walked backwards for the whole route, playing his guitar and leading the singing throng.

Jim has helped many new singers find their voices by backing them up with his voice and guitar.

Jim’s fine voice and sensitive harmonizing make every person he sings with, and every room he’s in, sound better. Jim, long may you sing!
