Offerings: Lucien, with guitar and harmonica, is available for parties, concerts, and festivals.
Bio: Lucien is an acoustic guitarist, vocalist, and seasoned busker whose performances draw from the timeless traditions of folk, blues, soul, and country. He began performing publicly at seventeen, and since 2022 has been a familiar presence in Vancouver’s busking scene, as well as in local cafés, bars, and with the Vancouver Folk Song Society, where he has performed for the past three years. He has also brought his music to venues across Washington State and previously hosted an open mic in Gastown.
With a repertoire anchored in Bob Dylan covers and reimagined works by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, and Phil Ochs, Lucien approaches each song with reverence for its history while finding new layers of expression through voice, guitar, harmonica, and percussion. Though he does not yet perform original material, his artistry lies in emulating and reinterpreting iconic voices of the folk tradition, creating performances that feel both familiar and freshly alive.
Originally drawn to folk music for its solo versatility — rhythm, harmony, and melody intertwined — Lucien soon became captivated by its emotional directness and the way storytelling and social consciousness are woven into its lyrics. Beyond performance, he has taught music at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music as well as through private lessons. Whether busking on Vancouver’s streets or interpreting the songs of folk’s great storytellers, Lucien carries forward a tradition rooted in authenticity, community, and the power of song to connect.
